Melanie Y. Bintz, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 18, 2023, after a brief illness at SEORMC, Cambridge, Ohio surround by family. She was born September 17, 1948, in Mason WV, the daughter of the late Joseph A and Rowena E Young.
She grew up in Woodsfield Ohio, but then moved to Cambridge Ohio in 1965 where she graduated from John Glenn High School in 1966. She attended Ohio University and spent most of her career working with persons with developmental disabilities. She worked for the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities as a teacher’s aide, activity therapist, before moving to the business office as the payroll officer, where she retired in 2008. She was Christian by Faith and attended Southern Hills Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Eli Bintz.
Melanie is survived by her husband of 49 years Daniel Bintz, two daughters Amanda (Joe) Shockley and Andrea (John) Britton, four grandchildren Sydney and Alex Shockley, Trystan King, and Steele Britton, a brother Joseph (Jane) Young, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge, Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM, with a service the following day on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Randolph White officiating. Burial will be held at Northwood Cemetery.
