Melvin E. Todd, 78, died in his sleep at home after his fight with a long illness on November 7, 2023.

Mel was born on October 22, 1945, in Cambridge, a son of the late Paul Edwin Todd and Wanda (Dudley) Todd.

Mel was a 1963 graduate of Cambridge High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Commerce from Bliss College in 1970, and his Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies from Ohio Dominican University in 1991. Melvin worked many different jobs throughout the years. From 1971-1977 he was a Sales Representative for Philip Morris, from 1977-1983 he worked as a Sales Engineer for NL Industries, Baroid Division, from 1983-1987 he worked as a Sales Engineer for Tri-Petro Well Service Chemicals, and from 1988-2006 he worked as a Water & Wastewater Plant Operator for Guernsey County where he retired.

Mel served in the United States Army from January of 1964 to November of 1966, and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

Mel enjoyed hunting, trapping, trapshooting, motorcycle riding, golfing, and reading. The highlight of his trapshooting career was May 6, 2001, where he hit the milestone of shooting 100 registered targets at the Great Eastern Fun Club. He was a member of the Great Eastern Gun Club, Marietta Gun Club, and Coshocton Gun Club. Melvin also had a love for traveling and vacationing to Myrtle Beach, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Sun River, Oregon, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Melvin was Methodist by Faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Gloria Kay Todd and Paula Eileen Todd.

Mel leaves behind his wife of thirty-six years, Linda Ann Todd, whom he married on May 22, 1987, his son, Benjamin Aaron Todd of Bend, Oregon, his daughter, Christine Marie Todd of Cambridge, a grandson, Jeffrey Tyler Clipner of Cambridge, a granddaughter, Alexsys Marie Clipner of Cambridge, a brother, Timothy Martin (Cheryl) Todd of Cambridge, and a sister, Cindy Lou (Hank) Scheffer of Cambridge. Also left to cherish his memory are his two special cousins he grew up with, Harold Frontz and Edsel Todd, his special friend, Pete Oakley, his special friend from the US Army, David Sheley of Stuart, VA, and many special nieces and nephews.

No funeral services will be observed, per Melvins request. An interment will be held at Northwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Melvins name to Hospice of Guernsey County or Christ Global Methodist Church, 2167 North Avenue, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
