William R. Cowden

William R. Cowden, 72, of New Concord, died Tuesday (December 14, 2021) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

He was born October 5, 1949 in Cambridge, son of the late William S. Cowden and Margaret (Ruby) Cowden.

Mr. Cowden retired as a self-employed painting contractor.  He was also a farmer.

He was a 1967 graduate of John Glenn High School.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.

Mr. Cowden was a US Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen L. (Neff) Cowden; and two sisters, Betty and Helen.

He is survived by two sons, Matthew D. (& Kelley) Cowden of Pickerington and Daniel L. Cowden of New Concord; and two grandchildren, Evan Cowden and Owen Cowden.

Visitation will be held Saturday (December 18, 2021) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Nancy Parsons officiating. Friends and family are welcome, but due to COVID-19 please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and everyone else's should you decide to attend.

Military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council will be held at the funeral home.
