William “Bill” P. McConnell, age 74, of High Springs, Florida passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was born in Cambridge, Ohio on December 17, 1948, to Ralph Waldo and Frances Agnes (Batik) McConnell.
Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force serving at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines during the Vietnam conflict. He reached the rank of Sargent performing the duties of crash and recovery as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist.
Bill grew up on a farm in Cambridge, Ohio and loved working with his hands. He loved farming, especially gardening and farming with his father. In high school, he played basketball and was an active participant in the Future Farmers of America organization. He was always very gifted mechanically and often worked with farm machinery and learned many life skills from working on the farm and working with a friend at his family’s dairy farm. He later moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and learned many skills including fiberglass manufacturing, which he turned into a small business making fiberglass components for the marine industry, and specialty parts for other applications. As a young man, he put his full trust and faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. He always loved to read God’s Word. If you ever ran into him on the street, you could hardly have a conversation with him without knowing his love for the Lord, which would always become an important part of the conversation.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Kimberly Anne (Baxter) McConnell, son, Daniel Palmer McConnell, sister, Nancy Thatcher (Bob).
